Swim & Dive continues to improve at MAC Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University’s swimming and diving program completed Day 3 of the Mid-American Conference Championships and currently sits in fourth place with 221 points.

How did it happen
The Eagles collected a senior medal Riley Hofmann (Ada, Michigan-Forest Hills Central), who placed third in the 400-yard individual medley with a personal best 4:16.76. This mark also places its third record in the history of the program in the 400 IM. First-year student Abby Szadorsky (Oswego, IL-Oswego East) placed eighth in the same event with a time of 4:24.86.

In the 100 meters backstroke, second year Laini Bell (Atlanta, Ga.-Druid Hills (Northern Arizona)) finished with a time of 54.65. This mark places Bell fifth in program history in the 100 backstroke. Senior Ali Staver (Bettendorf, Iowa-Pleasant Valley) also entered the program record books in the same event, clocking a time of 55.12, which ranks the senior captain 10th all-time in program history.

In the preliminaries of the 3 meter diving, senior Bethany Shepherd (Batavia, Ohio-Glen Este) finished first with a score of 326.15. That total is good for 10th all-time in program history.

Eastern will conclude the MAC Championships tomorrow, February 26, with preliminaries starting at 10:30 a.m. inside Cooper Pool.
