MeitY organizes an in-depth cybersecurity training program for CISOs

Aiming to raise cybersecurity awareness and develop a strong and powerful cyber ecosystem in government organizations, the National Electronic Governance Division (NeGD) of the Ministry of Electronics and Computing (MeitY) conducted an extensive training program of five days.

The program is organized for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and front-line IT managers from various ministries and departments, governmental and semi-governmental organizations of central and state governments, PSUs and banks, among others.

The training program was part of a series of workshops organized by the National e-Governance Division at MeitY under the Cyber ​​Surakshit Bharat initiative. It will help CISOs and other participants equip themselves with a better understanding of the emerging cyber threat landscape and understand cybersecurity best practices so that they are able to translate the benefits of a secure cyberspace to organizations. individuals and citizens in general.

The inaugural session of the program was attended by Abhishek Singh, P&CEO, NeGD and SN Tripathi, DG, IIPA.

Highlighting the importance of cybersecurity in the current scenario of increasing cyberattacks, Tripathi encouraged CISO officers to think innovatively and futuristically while supporting their organizations’ cybersecurity efforts.

In his address, Abhishek Singh emphasized the need for strong cybersecurity conduct at the individual level and asked all CISO participants to use appropriately licensed software. He also reminded them of various initiatives of the Government of India in the said area, particularly emphasizing the highly responsive National Center for Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (NCIIPC) to deal with potential cyber threats to critical infrastructure.

The Cyber ​​Surakshit Bharat initiative was launched in January 2018 by MeitY and it is the first public-private partnership of its kind that leverages IT industry expertise in cybersecurity as well as MeitY organizations such as CDAC, CERT-In, NIC and STQC. as knowledge partners in this training program.

From June 2018 to September 2022, 29 training packages have already been delivered and approximately 1,224 CISOs and other frontline IT managers from central and state governments, PSUs, banks and government organizations have been trained.

The program runs from August 22-26, 2022. Upon completion of the sessions, it is expected that CISOs will be equipped and empowered to manage cybersecurity challenges in their respective organizations and to spread the required cybercrime awareness and build security capabilities. measures for CISOs and front-line IT staff across all departments.
