“Ed, Edd n Eddy’s Jingle Jingle Jangle” was a special episode that aired between the 4th and 5th seasons of the series. The episode opens on Christmas Eve as Eddy searches for his Christmas presents only to find out he’s dressing. After meeting his friends, Eddy decides the only way to turn his Christmas around is to get adopted by another family who will give him the gifts he really wants.

Not only does this episode have a moral lesson, it also shows how different people celebrate Christmas. As Eddy wanders from house to house, he learns different traditions like Rolf who believes that a troll named Yeshmiyek delivers Christmas dinners to good families.

9 Dexter’s Lab: “Dexter from the Claws of Santa Claus” (Season 2, Episode 37) – 7.7

After Dee Dee blows it off that she still believes in Santa Claus, Dexter makes it his mission to prove his older sister wrong. Dexter goes all out and even knocks down Santa’s sleigh and shaves his beard to prove his point, only to learn that Dee Dee was actually right all along.

“Dexter Against the Claws of Santa Claus” isn’t an inherently original episode, it all comes down to Dexter’s disbelief in Santa, but the episode is quite original in its execution. It’s also hilarious to see Dexter chasing after the real Santa Claus and tormenting him to prove his point.

This spring, alumni of St. Olaf College, friends and families will have the opportunity to hike, bike and kayak through Croatia and Slovenia while learning about the culture and history of the region. region and tasting local dishes and wines.

Associate Professor of Art and Art History Practice Michon Weeks and her husband David, the pastor of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Northfield, will lead a travel program for alumni this spring and families across Croatia and Slovenia.

This is all part of an Alumni & Family Travel program tailor-made for St. Olaf participants by Associate Professor of Art and Art History Practice Michon Weeks and her husband, David, the pastor of the church. Lutheran St. Peter’s of Northfield.

In addition to offering over 120 international or national off-campus study programs for current students, St. Olaf offers approximately 12 programs per year to alumni, families and friends. These Alumni & Family Travel programs – led by current and retired faculty and hosted by campus leaders – allow Oles to explore and learn in new corners of the world.

While St. Olaf has suspended the Alumni & Family Travel program during the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the programs that were due to take place this year have been postponed until 2022 or 2023 – and registration is now open. All programs will follow COVID safety protocols, and leaders will monitor global conditions ahead of programs and make travel adjustments as needed. Alumni & Family Travel’s primary goal is to deliver a highly educational itinerary shaped by the expertise of faculty leaders.

Michon and David Weeks bring both their expertise and experience in leading overseas programs. Most recently, they led the international and off-campus environmental science program in Australia and New Zealand for St. Olaf students during the 2020 spring semester. The program was cut short by the COVID pandemic. -19, but provided many valuable lessons – and made the Weeks keen to lead another group overseas.

They took a moment to explain why they developed the Alumni & Family Travel program in Croatia and Slovenia and what fuels their interest in leading lifelong learners abroad.

Michon, what led you to become an art and art history teacher?
I am a practicing artist and teaching art is one of my passions. It is a joy to work in an art studio where students learn and engage. I have a responsibility to work hard for my students, passing on what I have learned to them. It is a privilege and a responsibility to share the subject that is close to my heart with others. I am happy that my studio work as a painter is supported and encouraged by my colleagues in St. Olaf.

What did you like about directing students abroad?
Michon: Students are so much fun traveling with them because of their camaraderie, playfulness, enthusiasm, curiosity, and desire for adventure. I also like to eat ice cream with the students and swim in the ocean.

David: As a pastor, I mostly work with older adults so it was fun and enjoyable to interact with younger adults.

What was it like being taken abroad with a group of students when the pandemic started?
Michon: We were all disappointed that our stay in Australia was cut short by two months due to the pandemic. As a result, we missed spending 10 days on the Great Barrier Reef snorkeling and studying marine biology. It was particularly difficult for our students. Yet we trusted the decisions of the St. Olaf Office for International and Off-Campus Studies as they monitored the situation and decided when we should end our stay in Australia. Their skills and support made my job as a leader much easier. Looking back, I’m so grateful that we were able to spend a full month studying in New Zealand in February 2020 before the pandemic spread.

What made you consider running an Alumni & Family Travel program?
David: Why wouldn’t you want to lead a group of adults through St. Olaf’s Alumni & Family Travel? It’s a great opportunity to explore other cultures, foods and stories, and to make new friends. In addition, the program is very well supported by the Alumni & Family Travel staff.

How did you choose the destinations for your 2022 program?
Michon: We chose Croatia and Slovenia to experience the brilliant blue glacial lake of Bled, the sunny Adriatic coast, the spectacular wonders of Plitvice Lakes National Park and the historic towns and villages along the Dalmatian coast. We’re also excited about the Backroads cycling portion of the trip.

David: It would be nice to see professional cyclists Tadej Pogacar or Primoz Roglic, who are from Slovenia and currently ranked # 1 and # 3 in the world. Pletna boats on Lake Bled seem exciting to me.

Compared to core students, what do you think is different when leading adult lifelong learners abroad?
Michon: There will be a diversity of people on the trip, including professionals, retirees and young adults. We will all learn from each other – and there are no marks at the end of the program.

David: As much as I enjoyed leading young adults, our ages and life experiences were different. I look forward to stimulating conversations while tasting craft beers in Slovenia and Croatia.

Yale News

Mary Orsak ’22 hid in the Pierson College seminar room on November 20, shielding herself from the Yale-Harvard match festivities as she found out which candidates had received this cycle’s prestigious Rhodes Scholarship.

She won.

Orsak and three other Yalies – Liam Elkind ’22, Kate Pundyk ’22 and Shreeya Singh ’22 – were awarded the Rhodes, which funds one to three years of study at the University of Oxford in England. Elkind, Orsak and Singh are three of 32 Americans selected for the Rhodes Scholarship, while Pundyk, a former SciTech News editor, will join 10 other Canadians at Oxford in October 2022.

The majority of every Rhodes Scholarship cohort is female this year. There are 22 American women and seven Canadian women preparing to move to England next fall, compared to 10 American men and four Canadian men.

“The scholarships recognize a set of timeless virtues – intellectual excellence, strength of character, energy to strive, commitment to serve and instinct to lead,” said Richard Pan, Canadian Secretary of the Rhodes Trust and President of Rhodes Scholarships in Canada. . “We are proud of the opportunities that scholarships offer our most talented, passionate and charismatic university graduates.”

Last year, three Yalies won Rhodes scholarships. In recent years, one or two Yale students typically receive the honor. For the second consecutive year in its 100-year history, the application process was conducted entirely online. Still, Elliot F. Gerson, US secretary of the Rhodes Trust, has said he hopes to return to selection in person next year.

Although he described the process online as “bizarre,” Elkind said he found it less stressful to participate in interviews with a virtual panel.

Elkind took a leave of absence last year and founded a nonprofit called Invisible Hands, which delivered essentials such as food and groceries to those most at risk during the pandemic. Invisible Hands has grown exponentially, he said. At one point, a New York City hotline referred the hungry residents to Invisible Hands, who then used Elkind’s personal phone number.

“It seemed unacceptable that we as a society were dependent on these disparate self-help groups,” Elkind said. “Even the New York City food system relied on a 20-year-old answering his phone. Why is the government not fulfilling these roles? Why is the government unable to help people in a meaningful and effective way? “

In Oxford, Elkind seeks to study comparative government between the United States and the United Kingdom – particularly reform, campaign finance and voting rights – before returning to the United States and strengthening the democratic infrastructure. American.

For Orsak, the Rhodes scholarship is about service.

“Everyone who gets involved in this – at some level – wants to see the world change,” she said.

Orsak, who is studying Russian at Yale, will pursue a master’s degree at Oxford to learn from leading professors of East European studies. She said that she aspires to teach Russian and Czech at university level in the future.

In one of her interviews in Rhodes, Orsak said, a panelist asked her why she “is just going to be a teacher.” Orsak responded that as an academic she will have an impact by educating the next generation and adding scholarships to a smaller field.

Similar to Orsak, Pundyk shares a value for education and has credited Yale and Wellesley College – where she completed her first two years of undergraduate studies before taking time off to work for the Premier of Alberta, then move to New Haven – to prepare her for the Scholarship. Still, she stressed that she was excited for “a new adventure”.

Pundyk, who has wanted to enroll in Oxford since the age of 11, is studying the role of technology in crimes against humanity. She said she wanted to join Canada’s “strong” group of academics and technology policy activists to “amplify Canada’s role in the discussion of how technology is changing conflict and humanitarian crises.” .

The Rhodes Scholarship requires applicants to examine the values that underpin their accomplishments, Pundyk said.

Singh has been involved in the application process for several prestigious programs this year, winning finalist spots for the Marshall and Rhodes Scholarships, although she only won the latter.

“[The Rhodes] is one of those impossible dreams, ”she said. “During the whole process, I never internalized it as a real possibility.”

Singh, who was born in India before immigrating to the United States as a child, examines Hindu nationalism and anti-Muslim policies in her homeland. She said she was thrilled to continue her graduate studies, to meet the international cohort of Rhodes Scholars in her class and to start paying for the “kindness, love and wisdom” she received when applying. .

Singh said anyone can win a Rhodes scholarship.

“It’s one of those things that people see as if you have to be perfect or like there is a certain type of person who wins the Rhodes,” Singh explained. “They are athletes, and they have perfect grades, and they have it all together. This is not true. Much of it is luck, hard work, and the people around you. There is not one type of person who is a Rhodes Scholar. If you think about it, I encourage you to throw your hat in the ring.

Rebekah Westphal, Associate Dean of Yale College and Director of Scholarships and Funding, called this year’s course “amazing and inspiring”, although she noted that all of the students who received the Yale nomination were ” absolutely stellar in terms of academic achievement and achievement “.

Westphal, whom Singh describes as “a wizard,” meets all the Yale students interested in pursuing Rhodes.

“I think a lot of people don’t apply because they think it’s too difficult, but the application process is incredibly helpful in itself,” Westphal said. “Candidates always learn a lot about themselves, they strengthen their networks, and get excellent interview practice and support that is useful for many other things. “

The Rhodes Scholarship was first awarded in 1902.

It might not have been the performance West Ham United U23s were looking for on Friday night, but the result remained in their favor.

After a relentless 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers U23 at Rush Green Stadium – a close game settled by Kamarai Swyer’s goal in the 17th minute, but in which the visitors hit the woodwork twice and missed several clear chances to equalize – the Hammers took a two-point lead at the top of the Premier League 2 Division 1.

And winger Dan Chesters, one of four Under-23 players to return from the European first-team adventure in Vienna and make the development team on Friday, was delighted to play his part. .

The 19-year-old collected his fifth assist of the campaign by crossing with precision for Swyer to come home, and while the performance brought in points his team were working on, Chesters was still thrilled to get a victory. important in east London. .

“It’s a great feeling,” he told whufc.com. “It was a great job, hard work, from the guys today.

“Obviously we didn’t run the game the way we wanted, but at least we got the result and the three points, which was good enough for us to become the top of the league.

“Looking back, I think we could have finished it earlier. We had a few good chances at the start of the second half, but the boys dug deep and kept the clean sheet as well. “

The 1-0 win saw the West Ham U23s record a fourth straight clean sheet at home – and a fifth in the last six games in all competitions – with no goals conceded in the last 381 minutes of football played at Rush. Green.

Such a strong defense provides a great platform on which to build, Chesters acknowledged.

He noted: “Our defense is top notch – really solid – and that number just proves the quality we have at the back. It was a good job from the boys.

“For me, I run really hard behind, trying to help people and get goals. I didn’t manage to score a goal tonight, but at least I got an assist, so that’s positive.

West Ham United U23 celebrate

With a new head coach in the person of Mark Robson to impress, nine wins in their last eleven games in all competitions means confidence is high within this Under-23 group.

“The locker room is so good right now,” Chesters smiles. “The atmosphere is amazing and the guys are at the top of their game so we just want to keep moving forward and keep taking points.

“The new gaffer is awesome. He likes us to move the ball quickly and I think that suits our team so we all enjoy our football.

That the victory came at the end of a week that Chesters – along with defenders Ajibola Alese and Jamal Baptiste, and most notably 17-year-old forward Sonny Perkins – will never forget, was all the more relevant to the winger.

After making his West Ham United first-team debut in the UEFA Europa League earlier this season, Chesters was keen to congratulate Perkins on his own in Vienna.

Chesters concluded: “It’s good that the manager of the first team includes the young boys in the matches of the Europa League. This gives us the experience and the minutes of the first team.

“I’m glad Sonny came on – and he almost scored too, so fair play for him!”

“I hope we have more Academy rookies and can get more minutes for the first team.”

Jason Momoa gives a funny answer as to why he loves his Dune Duncan Idaho character. He shares what prompted him to take the role in Denis Villeneuve’s film.

Momoa’s involvement in a project like this only adds to his increasingly impressive filmography. After bursting onto the scene in the early 2010s playing in the Conan the Barbarian reboot and (more specifically) play Khal Drogo in the first season of Game Of Thrones, Momoa was on the verge of becoming a big star. He got this opportunity when he played the cameo role of Arthur Curry / Aquaman in 2016 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The role would lead him to play in Justice League before moving on to 2018 Aquaman film, which became DC’s most successful box office film to date. Momoa is currently filming a Aquaman sequel, leader of the Apple TV + series See, and develop a buddy cop movie with Dave Bautista. With plenty of roles to choose from these days, Momoa recently opened up on what drew him to Duncan Idaho in Dune.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Momoa was asked what he loves most about Duncan. He responded by describing how fierce, honorable, and downright cool the character is. The actor then compares favorably to Duncan in a hilarious nod. His full quote reads as follows:

“Duncan has been described as the greatest fighter in the galaxy. He is honorable, he would do anything to serve the family, the house of the Atreids. I love this quality that he has, like the knight or the samurai. Women love him and men want a drink with him so I loved the idea of his charisma and sense of adventure, and at the same time he’s a tough guy. So why don’t I play it? “

Dune Movie 2021 Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho after battle

Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho was one of the many great aspects of Dune that made the movie work so well. The film, which was released in mid-October, will return to IMAX screens for a limited time starting December 3. Villeneuve (along with many critics) has repeatedly urged viewers to go see the film on the biggest screen possible, despite its simultaneous release on HBO Max. Although he left the service last week, Dune will be available digitally at home on December 3 before being available on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD on January 11.

It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Jason Momoa playing Duncan Idaho in Dune. It is as if the actor was born to play the part. Many of the traits Momoa describes here can also match various other characters throughout her career. While some might understandably think Momoa was cataloged into these roles, he’s so good at bringing them to life that it’s hard to complain. I hope he will come back to some extent for Dune: part two.

Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, the roguelike spin-off of Yacht Club Games’ beloved retro platformer, has a release date fast approaching.

Developer Yacht Club Games has revealed the release date of Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, an upcoming unique action-adventure puzzle game. The independent studio is best known for creating Knight Shovel, the beloved 2D platformer that acts as a love letter to retro side-scrollers of the past. In February 2020, Yacht Club Games announced Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon – an in-depth puzzle game that will use the iconic shovel-wielding warrior and his cast of supporting characters.

When announcing the game, it was made clear that Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon will be quite different from the original Knight Shovel side scrolling. The upcoming game would combine roguelike elements with the falling block style puzzles made popular by Tetris. The dungeon exploration twist on the classic gaming genre is set to create a very unique gaming experience for players to dig into. As Shovel Knight, or another of the game’s unique playable characters, players will walk through a dungeon, one room at a time. Each room will contain a randomly generated falling block puzzle to solve while battling enemies and collecting loot from all over the room. These two genres will merge in intriguing ways, creating scenarios like falling blocks crushing entire groups of enemies. While Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is different from previous games, the tone and artistry of the franchise will always remain the essential pillars of the whole experience.

Upon release Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Due to the success of Knight Shovel and its various expansions, Yacht Club Games seems keen to continue growing the brand with new, unique titles. Next to Pocket Dungeon, the studio is also working on Shovel Knight Digging, a title that would combine the platform gameplay of the original game with an all-new roguelike dungeon exploration mechanic. Players will dig deep underground to earn rare loot, which will allow Shovel Knight to gain permanent upgrades and abilities. Brand new brands are also reportedly in development, with a post opening in July 2020 suggesting that Yacht Club Games is creating a 3D game unlike its purely two-dimensional order book.

Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon seems to be a unique and worthy successor to the original retro platformer from 2014. The game retains the original charm and artistry of the series while creating a completely original mix of puzzle solving and exploration of dungeons. Knight Shovel fans should be familiar with the old-fashioned side-scrolling gameplay, and the popularity of the character will undoubtedly lead the new title to success. For die-hard series fans and puzzle game aficionados, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon will be available on December 13.

Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner wants to see Clint Barton lead the Avengers in the MCU because of the character’s history with the West Coast Avengers.

Jeremy Renner wants to see Hawk Eye lead the next iteration of the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Renner made his MCU debut as Clint Barton in 2011 Thor, as he made a cameo appearance which introduced the archer to the public before his return to The Avengers. He then returns in three films, with Avengers: Endgame his last appearance. It happened after Hawkeye was kicked out of Avengers: Infinity War, which has not escaped MCU fans. Through it all, Renner’s Clint Barton has served primarily as a supporting character for the MCU’s greatest heroes.

Hawkeye’s time as a side character is coming to an end now thanks to Hawk Eye. The Disney + series is finally giving Jeremy Renner a chance to star in an MCU project. Hawk Eye continues his story after Avengers: Endgame as Clint spends the days leading up to Christmas in New York City with his family. It was around this time that he met Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), and the two were then embroiled in an adventure with an Avengers-level threat. The first reactions to Hawk Eye were pretty positive, but many fans wondered what the future of Clint Barton’s MCU would look like after the Disney + series.

As part of the promotion of Hawk Eyethe debut of Disney +, Jeremy Renner spoke BBC Radio about the series and its MCU future. The interviewer mentioned how Hawkeye has been somewhat underused by Marvel Studios at this point, which has led Renner to talk about what he wants to do with the Archer next. His greatest hope is for Hawkeye to become the next leader of the Avengers, as Renner cited Hawkeye’s time leading the West Coast Avengers in the comics as a reason he could step in with Tony Stark and Steve Rogers who aren’t. more there.

“I think where you mentioned the word, like ‘underutilized.’ Well listen, he was the head of West Coast Avengers. I would personally like to see him in that kind of a leading role of Captain America. .In fact, I think he would manage to take the lead and do those kinds of things, right? Um … as a quarterback, instead of being a wider receiver. kind of stuff, right? Like, that would be really interesting, I think, to see him do that. “

Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye in The Avengers

Hawkeye has taken on a leading role on several occasions in the comics, including the West Coast Avengers. The MCU could take him down this path if Renner is still interested in playing Clint Barton. It would also be another way for Marvel to increase the number of super-teams in the MCU by giving the West Coast its own Avengers team. Hawkeye could also take on a leadership role as the head of the main Avengers team or even with the Thunderbolts. Barton led the Thunderbolts for a while in the comics, and many fans hoped that this could be the direction of his MCU story.

Renner is certainly right that Hawkeye could fill the Avengers void and take on the leadership position, but he’s not the only hero to claim that responsibility. He has seniority among the current heroes of the MCU, as it’s hard to imagine Thor or the Hulk wanting to lead the Avengers. Instead, Hawkeye might have to face off against new heroes like Sam Wilson’s Captain America or Captain Marvel. Some in the MCU have also speculated that Wasp, Spider-Man, or Doctor Strange are solid options as well. So only time will tell if Hawk Eye has a chance to lead the Avengers in the future.
