What are your parents’ names?

Neal and Sandy Powell

Where are you going to attend college and what is your expected major?

I will be attending UNC-Chapel Hill and majoring in exercise and sport science.

What is your career goal?

I plan to work with college athletic departments or possibly a professional sports team on the corporate side.

Do you have letters in all sports and do you hold leadership positions?

I did letters in swimming and was captain of the swimming team for the last two years. I was a section leader in the march for the past two years.

What activities do you do outside of school?

I enjoy reading, traveling and attending sporting events with my family.

What is your defining moment?

To be accepted into Chapel Hill knowing that it was something I had dreamed of since I was a little girl and now a reality.

What is your secret to succeeding in high school?

It is very important to have a good relationship with your teachers.

Jace Cline

What are your parents’ names?

Douglas and Kendal Cline

Where are you going to attend college and what is your expected major?

I will go to UNC-Charlotte and major in engineering.

What is your career goal?

I plan to get my engineering degree and eventually open my own engineering company.

Do you have letters in all sports and do you hold leadership positions?

President of the National Honor Society and Vice President of the Key Club.

What activities do you do outside of school?

We have a family farm and I’m usually there. It takes a lot of work to run a farm.

What is your defining moment?

To be a junior marshal and stay first in my class.

What is your secret to succeeding in high school?

You need to start working hard your first year and continue throughout your senior year.

Jaxon Trexler

What are your parents’ names?

David and Ashlin Trexler

Where are you going to attend college and what is your expected major?

I will be attending North Carolina State University and majoring in biomedical and textile engineering.

What is your career goal?

I want to explore the field of engineering and find work to which I can apply my skills and knowledge.

Do you have letters in all sports and do you hold leadership positions?

Yes, I studied swimming and baseball. The last two years I was All County and All Conference in swimming. I was an officer in the FBLA and I’m a varsity baseball team leader. I am a choirmaster specializing in the tenor section.

What activities do you do outside of school?

I enjoy hunting, fishing, quad biking, snowboarding, going on the lake and just about anything outdoors.

What is your defining moment?

My defining moment was getting accepted into my dream school at NC State and being valedictorian of my class at the same time.

What is your secret to succeeding in high school?

I believe that working hard and completing homework and chores on time is the secret to my success in high school.

Luc Heglar

What are your parents’ names?

Allen and Wendi Heglar

Where are you going to attend college and what is your expected major?

I will be attending North Carolina State University and majoring in Applied Mathematics.

What is your career goal?

My career goal after college is to become a chartered actuary.

Do you have letters in all sports and do you hold leadership positions?

I wrote in the fight and the track. I’m the captain of the wrestling team. I’ve been qualified twice state for wrestling, three times for all conference, twice for all counties and just won first place in the pole vault at the county track and field meet . I am currently ranked in the top five in the region for pole vault. I am involved in many clubs and am a youth leader for my church.

What activities do you do outside of school?

I am very involved in the youth group at my church. I like to be outdoors. I love snowboarding, wakeboarding, hunting, fishing and anything outdoors.

What is your defining moment?

The first time I qualified for the state wrestling championship.

What is your secret to succeeding in high school?

I think the secret to success in high school is time management. You have to work hard to get everything done on time.
